Brainwave Entrainment is the newest drug free way to help ourselves to go to sleep. Brainwave Entrainment works by calming the mind to help us reach a relaxed state which enables us to fall asleep naturally.

Brainwave Entrainment is not new. in fact our ancestors used it in their dances and rituals. They used drums and other types of rhythmic instruments like rattles to create beats which would have a certain effect on those listening.

binaural beats mp3A very fast beat would whip people into a frenzy to prepare them for battle or any activity which required a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Other slower beats would calm people down almost to a dreamlike meditative state necessary for healing or to implant ideas into the subconscious minds of the listeners.

When we’re awake we are mainly in a state of beta, measured at 15-40 cycles per second, which is alertness and even agitation. When we relax our brainwaves are predominately alpha, measured at 9-14 cycles per second, a state of mental calm and relaxed focus. These waves can be measured on an EEG machine which show as a person relaxes, their brainwaves become slower and further apart.

As the relaxation continues the brainwaves further slow down to theta, (5-8 cycles per second) state of drowsiness and light sleep and finally delta (1.5-4 cycles per second) a deep sleep state.

Brainwave Entrainment actually slows down the electrical activity of the brain by using sound tones which effect the sub cortical area of the brain. Flashing lights can also be used for the same effect but can adversly effect people suffering from epilepsy.

The early form of modern brain altering technology was called “binaural beats”. Binaural beats emit sound pulses of different frequencies into each ear. The brain then resonates to a frequency half way though these two frequencies.

Binaural beats are quite effective in lowering our brainwaves but need headphones to work effectively. A more recent innovation in Brainwave Entrainment is “Isochronic Tones” or “Isochronic Beats”. Isochronic Tones (or monaural beats) work without the need for headphones, allowing us a more comfortable way to get to sleep (try turning on your side wearing headphones!)

Benefit of binaural hearingIsochronic Tones can be embedded into music for a total relaxing experience. They have been credited with everything from pain relief, creativity, meditation and lucid dreaming. But the ability of Isochronic Tones to promote restful sleep is their greatest achievement towards good health and wellbeing.

There a many sound products on the market nowadays that claim to help us sleep. Among these are hypnosis CDs which induce relaxation so suggestions can be implanted directly into the subconscious mind, for instance a suggestion that we are calm and relaxed and sleepy.

To benefit from hypnosis, we must be fairly relaxed to start with, which is unlikely if we’re tossing and turning and worrying about not sleeping and how we’re going to perform the following day!

On balance brainwave entrainment using monaural technology or Isochronic Tones looks to be the best option. It seem like our ancestors got it right all those years ago Of course these folk weren’t aware they were using monaural beats technology, they just knew that it worked!

So much has been written about meditation, but not so much has been written about brainwave entrainment. In fact, most people probably never even heard of the term “brainwave entrainment”. In this article I hope to reveal how meditation and brainwave entrainment compliment each other and are inseparable. I also point out that brainwave entrainment can be used as a shortcut to meditation.

Meditation Defined

Although there are various definitions for meditation one of the main definitions for meditation is stillness of mind, letting go of stormy and distracting thoughts and emotions, and for a time remaining focused inwardly. Those who are intellectually inclined use meditation to clear their mind and to focus on just one thought, perhaps a thought about how to solve a certain problem, or entertaining the thought of a new idea. Those who are spiritually inclined use meditation for stilling their mind so they can focus all their energy and aspiration on the divine within. But we are barely scratching the surface in defining meditation in such simple terms.

binaural beats mp3Meditation and Brainwaves

Scientifically speaking meditation basically alters one’s brainwaves. Different brainwave states are associated with different benefits and experiences. For example when your mind is racing, stressed, unable to relax or be still, perhaps caught in emotional turmoil, arguing, hating, bitter, screaming, or confused, racing a zillion miles a second etc., you are probably plugged into a brainwave state at the beta or even gamma levels. Most of us live our waking day to day lives at the beta level. Even if we are generally a calm person we can still be at a beta level if we are unable to intellectually relax or take a mental break. If we feel we always need to be preoccupied with something we are probably living too much at the beta live, and in the long run this can potentially cause premature aging, stress, health problems, emotional issues, and so on. Healthy beta is okay. But our brain can be too beta wired which is not good.

Meditation helps train the brain to be more synchronized and balanced. Periods of regular meditation practice help bring the brain from a gamma or beta level to a more relaxed alpha level, or even deeper to a theta level, and ultimately in very deep, intense meditation you can reach the delta level. Delta is a very life-giving, rejuvenating state of mind, but few reach it often enough, not even when they sleep.

Following is a brief description of the beta, alpha, theta, and delta brainwave states:

Beta waves (13 to 40 Hz ) - Beta is identified with active, busy or anxious thinking and active concentration.

Alpha waves (8 to 12 Hz ) - When we begin to relax or begin to get drowsy, but are still awake and conscious, when we are day dreaming, we are at the alpha level.

Theta waves (4 to 8 Hz) - When we are asleep and have dreams, and experience rapid eye movement (REM), and have hallucinations, and even when we experience deep meditation, we are at the theta level. When we lucid dream (this is when you are conscious while you are dreaming) we are at the theta level.

Delta waves (0 to 4 Hz) - Delta waves are usually associated with deep, slow brain activity found in deep sleep. Delta waves are experienced predominantly in newborn infants, as well as in healthy adults in deep rejuvenating sleep, or in very deep states of brain enhancing, emotional cleansing, bodily renewing meditation.

The Difference Between Meditation and Sleep

By now you are probably thinking to yourself: “What is the point in meditating since I enter the alpha, theta, and sometimes delta levels every time I sleep? If I sleep 6 - 8 hours a night then am I not basically receiving the same benefits I would receive if I were doing 6 - 8 hours of meditation a day for my entire life?”

The main point here is deep, dreamless sleep at the delta level. Most people don’t sleep deep enough where the benefits of deep rejuvenating sleep take place. But if you take even only a “power nap” for an hour or two and enter a deep, dreamless sleep at the delta level at that time, when you wake up and come out of it there is a new sense of life, energy, awareness, well-being in you. In deep rejuvenating meditation you enter that same level, except that you are awake instead on unconscious. When you can enter that deep rejuvenating state of consciousness while remaining fully aware then you can carry over that state of mind in your day to day life and become the essence of who you are deep in your inner most being. It takes practice and daily trips to that deep place within.

In a nutshell meditation in this context is a fourth state of consciousness that is unique because it consists of high awareness with very low mental or physiological function. Meditation is an awareness of our inner spirit, as well as closeness to our spirit. Everyone comes “pre-wired” with the capacity for this type of meditative restful awareness. Alas few ever reach it during normal sleep. But daily meditation can help your sleep become deeper.

When reaching deep delta levels during sleep we feel so much refreshed and rejuvenated when we wake up. When we fall into deep sleep, the ego disappears as does all out mental programming and brainwashed mindset, we are closer to our pristine innocence. The closer we are to “home” so to speak the more recharged and healthy we are in our day to day life.

This clearly proves that the secret of attaining freshness and peace lies within, not outside. The goal of meditation is to become conscious while you are passing through dream and deep sleep states of your mind, and remaining conscious when you are in your spirit so to speak. And then the ultimate goal (practice makes perfect) is the carrying over of that awareness into your day to day life and maintaining it by intuitive living. This is when an entire life makeover takes place of which religious rules of conduct and morals and ethical living are all but cheap imitations of something that is natural and spontaneous due to the actual experience of “seeing God” in the depths of one’s being. But that is another subject.

Brainwave Entrainment: A Shortcut To Meditation

The primary emphasis in this article relates to a shortcut method for getting to that deep inward state where the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of meditation naturally follow. This is where “brainwave entrainment” comes in.

What Is Brainwave Entrainment?

Brainwave entrainment is a scientifically proven leading edge in brain/mind technology. Professionals in the areas of psychology, neurology, medical health and self-help are beginning to utilize the power of brainwave entrainment in their work with patients and clients. Advances in the effectiveness of brainwave entrainment have been significant and gaining ground.

Wikipedia defines brainwave entrainment this way:

“Brainwave synchronization or “brainwave entrainment,” is any practice that aims to cause brainwave frequency to fall into step with a periodic stimulus having a frequency corresponding to the intended brain-state (for example, to induce sleep). It depends upon a “frequency following” response, a naturally occurring phenomenon where the human brain has a tendency to change its dominant EEG frequency towards the frequency of a dominant external stimulus. Such a stimulus may be aural, as in the case of binaural beats, monaural beats, and isochronic tones, or else visual, as with a dream-machine, a combination of the two with a mind machine, or even electromagnetic radiation.”

Over the centuries and even today many people use different methods in an attempt to enter a deep state of meditation. Some use breathing techniques. Some use chanting, others use dance, instruments, music, devotional exercises and so much more. All these are different methods used for basically entraining the brain and lowering the brainwave frequencies to a state of mind at the alpha, theta or delta levels.

Also used by some for entering deep states of meditation are brainwave mp3’s or cd’s which are embedded with binaural beats, monaural beats, or isochronic tones. It has been scientifically documented that periods of regular brainwave entrainment by means of listening to cd’s or mp3’s embedded with binaural betas, monaural beats, or isochronic tones can lead to an increase in overall emotional calmness, relaxation, deep inner peace, intelligence, creativity, focus and mental clarity also improving memory, raising IQ and creating a rise in energy, and reduction in stress levels. These are the same benefits one experiences during meditation.

All this info I shared may sound complicated and complex in some cases. The fact is that you no more need to understand exactly how this process works than you need to know how the engines on an airplane work to get you from one destination to another. What you really need to know is that brainwave entrainment is highly effective and easily fits into your daily routine. Just 20 minutes to an hour a day listening to brainwave entrainment mp3’s or cd’s you begin to reap the rewards.

how to stop insomnia

“That we are not much sicker and much madder than we are is due exclusively to that most blessed and blessing of all natural graces, sleep.” -Aldous Huxley

Sleep is the best way for the body and the mind to relax, in the absence of which the mind would be stressed and fatigued. Sleep restores the energy of the body and in a way relieves people from their tensions, anxieties and provides them renewed vigor. When an individual fails to get adequate sleep, he is said to be suffering form Insomnia.

What are the effects of Insomnia?

Insomnia can really make a vast change in your life, it affects the physical and psychological health of a person and the mental and physical ability to cope with stress gradually reduces, ultimately making the person unfit for a healthy social life. The individual becomes more irritable and loses his/her ability to concentrate. There is a kind of restlessness that takes over which can also be considered as the first symptoms of Anxiety Disorder or Depression. Therefore to avoid all these things from happening to you, make sure that you get a minimum of eight hours sleep which would restore your mental and physical ability to deal with the forthcoming day. If you are unable to sleep do not go for pharmaceutical medicines, try some natural sleeping aids first. Read further to find some effective Natural Sleeping Aids.

Effective Natural Sleeping Aids

There are numerous and effective natural sleeping aids though they are underestimated many a times but then they can be of real help if you want to be relieved and enjoy a refreshing sleep, in case the problem has not reached an acute stage.

Meditation and Deep Breathing

The most common and possible reason for sleepless nights is the overwhelming stress that we face everyday and the inability of the body to relax makes it impossible for use to sleep. So to relax you can try meditation, which will help you to calm yourself. It empties out the mind of all the negative thoughts and fills in positive energy, which makes us feel better and also induces a feeling of well-being. You need not join a meditation class or something, you can simply try out this simple method: Pay attention to your breathing as you inhale and exhale.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy as the name suggests uses the human sense of smell to induce sleep or relax the mind and body. It involves the use of essential oils like lavender or jasmine. These oils can be extracted from citrus fruit peels, spices and also trees, which have the sedative property. You can either pour a drop or two of these oils and take a refreshing bath or you can also put the same measure on your pillow the aroma transfers you to the world of dreams. Lavender is the most popular when it comes to essential oils so you can definitely try a drop or two on your handkerchief initially as some people are allergic to some smells. You can also massage the back or your neck with these oils in circular movements; it would be best if you get someone to do it for you. Nothing is more relaxing than a relieving massage.

Apart from these therapies you must be careful of the basic things in your bedroom like a comfortable pillow, soft bed, time of sleep and consumption of coffee or tea before going to sleep. Listen to soft and soothing music before going to bed so that your mind can relax and the music has a calming effect.

What is Brainwave Entrainment? Well, it’s the process of using tones, beats, or soundwave patterns to induce certain states of mind. Eg, focus, creativity, relax, reduce stress, sleep, wake up, etc. Simple enough. People use it for studying, writing, meditation, sleep induction, weight loss, spiritual enlightenment, sexual enhancement (seriously) and a whole host of other reasons.

Internet Marketers and Therapists, Teachers and Medical Professionals the world over are lauding the benefits of “Think and Grow Rich Automatically” as the catalyst for phenomenal success. An entire online community has been created for participants in Centerpointe Researches “Holosync Solution”. People are seeing results from several products.

But just like Ferrari’s are perfect for some folks, and a truck works better for others, you may find that a “one-size-fits-all” approach to brainwave entrainment doesn’t suit you. You must take your personal preferences into account.

entrainment cd

Some folks don’t mind certain sounds like high pitched MIDI tones, and the music used to mask the entrainment technology or subliminal technology in many cases is relatively cheesy. If it hits an irritating pitch, you’re likely to be focusing on the “jarring” that you feel, rather than being able to just relax. If this is the case, You might be better off without the music overdubbing. Times like this are when you need to have a customizable solution that will allow you to listen to the session without the music, or replace the music with something more suited to your tastes.

Fact is, some folks just aren’t able to relax while listening to higher notes. Lower Octave music works better for them. That’s why it’s important to adjust the volume of your recording before you actually begin to try to relax. Too high or too low a volume can be just as irritating as too high or low a pitch. And nothing is more effective at breaking your relaxed state than having to fiddle with the volume knob in the middle of a session.

What if you have a gazillion things to do, and can’t seem to find an hour or so to do your session? If you’re using the sessions for depression reduction or Chronic fatigue/Fibromyalgia, skipping a session is not an option, unless you just want to get back on the meds. You need to be able to use your session while performing your daily tasks. Working Single Moms come to mind in this scenario. At some point, you have to sleep! And who wants to sleep with earbuds or headphones on? Talk about pain! In a situation like this, a recording that didn’t require headphones would be perfect, wouldn’t it?

brainwave entrainment software

How do you know if you need headphones or not? Well, The word “Binaural” simply means that both ears are being transmitted to. (Binaural headphones, means sound comes out both sides) Binaural Beat technology requires that each ear be able to recieve a different sound channel. (headphones required) What they do is play a different sound in each ear, and your brain automatically creates the “entrainment frequency” that equals the difference between the two sounds.

“Monaural” means that instead of using technology that requires a separate sound channel for each ear, a pulsing beat pattern is being used, and you can listen with one speaker, or surround sound and get the same result. Some people prefer to listen to these type recordings as they go about their daily business. But some folks prefer a more intimate, private experience, which is why headphones are a good thing. You can do “With” or “Without” using Monaural technology, it just may take a little longer for you to get the desired effect without them.

For speed demons who prefer an intense session that is powerpacked and gets right to the nitty gritty, “Isochronics” is a great pattern. It’s audible, stiff sounding, and, if played at too high a volume, very irritating. But, once you’re hooked, you’re hooked. A highly trained, qualified professional can use isochronics to create some powerful and relaxing meditations, But in the hands of an inexperienced novice, they are more likely to drive you to drink.

The problem comes in when you spend so much time trying to find a product that will work for you, that you don’t have time to meditate effectively, or settle down and relax, which is necessary for the proper entrainment.

When I first learned that brainwaves were responsible for my depression, I spent hundreds on various products, some of which I used every day, and some that I just trashed, because they didn’t work for me. Testimonials indicate that they work for some people, but not for me.

With so many people producing “Hypnosis” or “Binaural” or “Entrainment and Meditation” products, how can you know that the ones you’re using are going to be effective, or that the people making them even know what they are doing?

That’s why I started BeyondBrainwaves.com I review the Brainwave Entrainment, Hypnosis, Subliminal, and even Even Energy Therapies so you can stop “trying this” and “trying that” and get right down to the doing.

If you are feeling stressed or depressed, you may also be suffering from insomnia. Whether you have a hard time falling asleep, or you fall asleep promptly and then awaken later and are unable to fall back to sleep, you have a sleep disturbance. This article explores that fastest and easiest ways to become a good sleeper.

THERE ARE FOUR TYPES OF INSOMNIA

  1. PSYCHO-REACTIVE INSOMNIA: Psycho-reactive Insomnia is generally caused by tension. Worry is the most common reason that the person seems to be stuck in the “awake” mode. The worry can become compounded when the Insomnia suffer begins to worry about falling asleep. The person may worry that they may become ill or die from lack of sleep.
  2. ENDOGENOUS INSOMNIA: This is usually caused by a discomfort within the body ranging from pain to indigestion.
  3. EXOGENOUS INSOMNIA: This is caused by external disturbances such as noise or loud neighbors. This is the easiest type of insomnia to beat.
  4. FUNCTIONAL INSOMNIA: This is caused by a functional problem in the subject’s sleep-wakefulness center in the brain.

hypnotherapy for health
Many people who suffer from a sleep disturbance develop an irrational fear of going to sleep because they expect to lie awake. This negative type of expectation can cause insomnia all by itself.

HERE ARE THE FACTS

  1. No one has ever died from or become ill from a lack of sleep. The mind and body will always get at least the minimum amount of rest that it needs, no matter what. If you lose some sleep one night, the next night you will get additional sleep to make up the loss.
  2. Our internal clock brings about a valley of fatigue in cycles. Every four to six hours you will experience the maximum amount of fatigue, and this is when it will be easiest to fall asleep. After that you will experience a renewed level of energy and it will become difficult for you to fall asleep.
  3. If you are worried that you have not slept for a second, stop worrying because it has been proven that everyone sleeps during the night. Sometimes you think that you’ve been lying awake thinking, but actually you have been sleeping lightly and dreaming.
  4. Trying to fall asleep: There is a law of nature called “The Law of Reversed Effect.” It says that if you “try” to do something, you will get the opposite. And the harder you “try,” the more you will get the opposite. So, trying to fall asleep will insure that you will remain awake. Do not “try” to fall asleep, and do not try to will yourself to sleep. Merely allow yourself to fall asleep.
  5. Alcohol will put you to sleep: This may be true, as alcohol is a depressant. However, as soon as the booze wears off, you will awaken abruptly and it will be very hard to fall back to sleep.
  6. Sleeping pills can help: During sleep it is the dream phase in which you get your rest. Sleeping pills suppress the dream phase of sleep (REM sleep). That is why you generally awaken feeling more tired than before going to sleep after using pills.

EFFECTING A CURE

  1. See when you feel most fatigued in the evening. From that point forward, every evening at least an hour before that time, take a bath that is slightly warmer than body temperature for twenty minutes. A shower will not have the intended effect.
  2. Drink a warm beverage, preferably not coffee or tea because of the caffeine, which will wake you up. It’s best to drink warm milk if your stomach can tolerate it.
  3. Discontinue thoughts of problems that you have. Do not think about what you need to do tomorrow. If you are worried that you will forget what you have to do tomorrow, write it down.
  4. Stay away from stimulating thoughts and TV shows. If you must read, then read something that is tiresome.
  5. Reserve your bed for sleep. Watch TV or read only while sitting in a chair or while on your couch.
  6. Get into bed at least twenty minutes before your valley of fatigue. Once in bed, if worries start to pop into your head, repeat this mantra several times to yourself, “I’ll think about it tomorrow.” This will help to eliminate the excessive thinking. Do not try to make your mind blank and don’t try to fall asleep. Just allow yourself to rest.
  7. For Endogenous Insomnia, you should eliminate the discomfort to the best of your ability.
  8. For Exogenous Insomnia, make your room as quiet as possible. If you have a partner who watches television, you can move to another room. Running a fan motor can bring on sleep, as it will tend to muffle outside noises. The monotonous drone of the fan usually proves to be very hypnotic.

HYPNOSIS FOR INSOMNIA - PSYCHO-REACTIVE AND FUNCTIONAL INSOMNIA

Practice self-hypnosis for sleep disturbances on a daily basis. Anxiety exacerbates and can even cause insomnia. Self-hypnosis CD’s can help you to quickly dissipate stress. Post-hypnotic suggestions for coping, and to encourage the expectation of sleep can assist. Your sub vocalized mantra should be: “I fall asleep promptly, and sleep soundly and restfully all through the night.”

There are quite a few Subliminal Messaging CDs available in the market today. How do they work? This article explores how the CDs make a connect between the physical brain and the abstract subconscious.

The Human Mind
Nothing intrigues human beings more than their own mind. From the times of Plato and Aristotle, to the latest experiments conducted by the Dalai Lama, this single entity has continued to elude man’s complete grasp. Whichever way you look at it - as philosopher, psychologist, spiritualist, cognitive scientist, or as a researcher making new discoveries in brain-computer-interface experiments - mankind seems to have tied itself up in knots in trying to understand the concept of “mind”.

subliminal message cd

Despite this ground reality, there are a lot of sites in the web market that sell subliminal messaging CDs. The rationale behind these products, as they strive to connect the listener’s sensory organs (the ears!) with the subconscious, makes fascinating reading.

Mapping The Brain
We are on firm ground when we talk about the physical entity known as the “Brain”. All observations and experiments conducted by man on this organ are well-documented in science literature.

Every sensation that we experience in our body is mapped directly to a specific region of the brain cortex. So, there are specific cells in specific regions of the brain that handle sight, sound, touch, etc. Not only has this mapping been clearly marked out, it has also been established that the cortical map is capable of redefining and reorganizing itself according to circumstances. What this technicality means is that if you spend a lot of time eavesdropping, over a period of time the auditory region of the cortex increases in size.

Another astonishing aspect about the brain that has come to light in recent years is that new neuron cells (the basic cells of the brain) continue to be created in the dense grey and white matter of the brain (Neurogenesis). Ergo, a normal human brain continues to grow and become denser well into senility! These amazing natural phenomena have been brilliantly deployed by scientists working on brain-computer interfaces. This means that it is now possible for, say artificial limbs to move by the power of thought (bionics), rather than be operated by electric switches.

Going a level deeper into the working of the brain, we discover that different structures of the brain that handle emotions, motivation and memory have been identified. Together called the “Limbic System”, these structures regulate hormones and a part of the nervous system that is not consciously under our control. When malicious foreign bodies such as bacteria or virus enter the body; it reacts in different ways, such as by sweating or shivering, or vomiting or becoming lethargic. This is the body’s response to fight back the intruders, and regain its earlier, healthy inner balance; and the whole thing is coordinated by the limbic system.

In a nutshell, this is what is known to mankind about the brain.

Conscious & The Subconscious
Though science has been able to perfectly pinpoint the chemical and physical processes of the brain, it is (still) clueless about the dichotomy between the brain and the mind. Can all mind and mind-related properties be explained by chemical and physical states of the brain? Or is the brain just a vehicle, which an entity known as the mind (or soul?) uses to drive the other entity known as the body? Are we just a mixture of smelly fluids and semisolid, gooey mass (with some electricity and magnetism thrown in), dumped in a skeletal bowl by a scientifically-unexplained process, or are we something higher than that?

If we reflect on what science has discovered thus far, this mind-body dualism becomes even more evident. Sensations from different parts of the body reach the brain cortex, and tap the individual cells on it. But how are these disparate sensations brought together to create a single, wholesome thought or emotion in the structures of the limbic system?

Further, how does thought “occur” on its own, uninitiated by any sensory stimuli? Where do urges and impulses come from? How do we link present events with past events and jump from the past to the present to the future in a flash? How do we form goals? What regulates our behavior, and makes us distinguish between what is good for us and not so good for us? How do we “consciously” decide to postpone immediate gratification, in favor of long-term gratification, in the face of our strong “urges” that demand rewards right here and now?

Questions, questions.

Without getting into the still-inconclusive argument about whether there is a “homunculus” residing in the brain of each one of us, I shall proceed with the observation that a school of thought recognizes that there _exists_ a “conscious mind” in all of us, one which integrates all the functions of the brain into a stream of thoughts and emotions. It is this conscious that interfaces with the outside world for processing of sensory inputs that the brain receives. It is this conscious that processes self-generated thought streams and assigns due importance to it (to be retained for the long-term, or to be rejected after a short while).

The subconscious, lying below the threshold of our alert, conscious mind, is the core of our existence. (Psychologists use the term “unconscious”; however, the word “subconscious” has become more popular in the public mind.) It is the subconscious that stores our innate emotions and basal thought patterns on the basis of which we form more complex reasoning and cognitive processes.

It is our subconscious that drives our life. Ironically, it is we ourselves who mould the way it can do so. Whatever we think at the conscious level is imbibed by the subconscious, which then goes on to transform those thoughts to our reality. Just like the physical cortex that scientists have so brilliantly mapped, there exists a “mental cortex” on which all thought patterns are mapped. And just as “the cortical map is capable of redefining and reorganizing itself according to circumstances” (remember our example on eavesdropping?), so too does this mental cortex keep changing its content, depending on what thought patterns are being given higher importance by our alert, conscious mind. The conscious mind, as it does with sensory inputs, integrates all thought patterns into one wholesome personality which we then become. This means that, if we think negative thoughts, our mental cortex allocates a portion of itself to accommodate them. If we continue thinking negative thoughts (continue eavesdropping) for a longer duration, then the area allocated for them increases. The negative thoughts become our personality, and consequently, our reality.

New thought formation, urges, impulses, memory and behavior regulation are thought to be functions of the mind, which is a synergy of the conscious and the subconscious.

Subliminal Messaging And The Subconscious
Messages that can reach out to the subconscious directly, without any hindrance from the conscious are known as “Subliminal”. These messages can be either harmful or benign for the person receiving them. The purpose of these messages is to increase the area allocated for the corresponding thoughts on the mental cortex of our system. So when the subliminal messages are positive and self-affirmative, and when they are repeatedly sent to the subconscious, over a period of time the thoughts that they help produce begin to acquire dominance in us. Ultimately, these dominant, positive thoughts become our personality, to be transformed into our reality.

The route the Subliminal Messaging CDs take is through the ears. In order for them to ping directly on the subconscious, these messages are delivered through a human voice recording that rides over music which vibrates at different pitches on the two ears. On the brain cortex, the individual cells that tap-dance to the two different pitches create something known as “binaural beats“, which bring the brain to a state of meditation. In this meditative state, the channels to the subconscious open up wide enough for the messages to ride in - and reach the mental cortex. This is how a connect between the brain and the subconscious is established by the CDs.

Final Word
There are quite a few companies selling these CDs online. Each of these CDs has their own pros and cons. It would be in your best interest to evaluate their individual strengths and weaknesses, and go for the best. (In case you are interested in my opinion, this is the site where I do my purchasing of CDs from.)

What is Brainwave Entrainment? Brainwave Entrainment simply put is the use of binaural beat sound recordings to change or alter your brainwave frequencies to achieve various states of consciousness. Various states of consciousness include the Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta brainwave patterns.

Beta comprise the brainwave patterns of normal awake consciousness where we are dealing with the outside world. It is our state of concentration, cognition, arousal and alertness but also of stress, anxiety, uneasiness, fear and disharmony.

brainwave synchronization

Alpha comprise the brainwave patterns of light relaxation and meditation, super learning, relaxed focus, reflection, positive thinking, pre-sleep or post-waking drowsiness and beginning of direct access to our unconscious mind.

Theta comprise the brainwave patterns of deep relaxation and meditation, intense focus, increased memory or retention, heightened creativity and visualization or imagery and of course our dreaming state and REM sleep. Delta comprise the brainwave patterns of deep dreamless sleep, deep trance like loss of body awareness and the potential for greatest push of programming to our unconscious mind. Depending on the brainwave state or states we are attempting to achieve and so utilize, brainwave entrainment using single or combinations of binaural beat frequencies are able to stimulate the various brainwave patterns.

The use of Brainwave Entrainment allows or promotes a multitude of obvious applications or benefits such as: bring about relaxation or deep meditation; eliminate stress, anxiety, depression, fear or anger; promote clear thinking, focus or super learning; increase awareness, insight and inner peace; providing rest and renewed energy. Other perhaps not so obvious though powerful uses are: re-programming our subconscious mind; healing unresolved emotional issues or dysfunctional feelings; manifesting spontaneous and creative solutions to difficult problems or desires; stimulating visions and psychic abilities; stimulating the release of various beneficial hormones and brain chemicals; synchronizing or balancing the two halves of the brain promoting whole brain thinking or super whole brain functioning.

Brainwave Entrainment is a very promising technology having real life changing power. You may listen to two free 30 minute sample binaural beat recordings at the website listed below on their Products Page. You must use headphones to achieve the proper effect in steering the correct and very different frequencies to each ear. Insomnia can be cured faster than you think. Here are some guidelines on how fast you can expect brainwave entrainment to work for you.

Meditation And Brainwave Entrainment

“Brainwave entrainment,” is any practice that aims to cause brainwave frequency to fall into step with a periodic stimulus having a frequency corresponding to the intended brain-state (for example, to induce sleep).

Several researchers are beginning to espouse the connection between hypnosis and sleep, while others are attempting to use hypnosis to help people sleep. Similar to chemical sleeping aids, hypnosis is said to have the same relaxing effects on the mind and body, allowing people to drift off to sleep quickly and easily.

It is no secret that hypnosis and sleep are related when people are in the trance-like state of hypnosis. After all, most hypnotists tell their subjects they are going to sleep and that their eyelids are getting heavy. However, it is not unusual for a person to experience self-hypnosis and sleep at least a few times during their seemingly waking hours.

how to get rid of insomnia naturallyFor example, driving to or from a familiar destination you may find yourself at the end of your journey with absolutely no recollection of how you reached it. Your mind may have wandered into its own subconscious and while your conscious thoughts may have been on the task at hand, your mind was experiencing hypnosis and sleep in its subconscious.

There are many self-hypnosis options available and some CDs can be played as you attempt to fall asleep. With the hypnosis and sleep CD playing in the background, many are claiming a valid benefit and deeper undisturbed sleep than with medically prescribed sleep aids.

Relax Yourself Into Sleep Mode

Being able to close off conscious thoughts and bring total relaxation to your mind is only part of the process of using hypnosis and sleep aids, as your body also has to be relaxed enough. Usually a slight drop in core body temperature will be realized before going to sleep, with the core temperature slightly lower than that of the extremities. Once a person’s mind is totally relaxed, the body typically follows, with deep sleep not far behind.

Listening to a voice telling you about how sleep you are getting and how great it will be to wake up rested, is not the aim of hypnosis and sleep sounds usually available. Rather restful and relaxing sounds are included in a manner and order in which your mind slowly succumbs to the unspoken suggestion that you are going to go to sleep.

Typically, the hypnosis and sleep recording will last just until the person is on the verge of sleep and then end, allowing them to fall into a restful sleep, waking up rested and having much more energy.
